This workshop was catalyzed by a recent call for proposals on the environmental impacts of agricultural intensification, organized by SPIA and emLab at UCSB. The goal of this workshop was to facilitate cross-project learning and build synergies between researchers with expertise in impact evaluation and in remote sensing.
Featuring a keynote presentation by David Lobell (Stanford), presentations from experts in measuring soil moisture (Binayak Mohanty), smallholder plots (Meha Jain), land-use land-cover change (Kunwar Singh), and land degradation (Ying Sun), and commentaries from Jennifer Alix-Garcia and Kathy Baylis.
