This one-day pre-conference workshop will bring together academics, researchers from international and national agricultural research institutes, and donors, to reflect on cutting-edge practice in impact assessment of agricultural research activities such as varietal improvement, natural resource management, agricultural policy research, and innovation systems approach. The CGIAR Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA) is organizing this at the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE) meetings, with a mix of invited papers from eminent researchers including Tavneet Suri (MIT), Joaquim Bento de Souza Ferreira Filho (Sao Paolo), and Keith Fuglie (USDA) as well as contributed papers - a number of them focusing on emerging success stories in Africa, and a lunchtime poster session.
