SPIA Participation at the 2025 AAEA Annual Meeting

Date: 27 July, 2025
Time: 8:00am - 3:00pm
Location: Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel, Denver, United States

During the 2025 AAEA Annual Meeting, the Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA) is organizing a series of side-sessions and meetings aimed at reflecting on how impact assessment is implemented within the CGIAR and discussing frontier methodological topics that are relevant for the CGIAR and for engaging the broader agricultural economics community.

On Sunday, July 27, SPIA will host a three-part event focused on key aspects of impact assessment in agricultural research for development. The sessions aim to:

  • Better understand how impact assessment is housed and implemented in the CGIAR
  • Establish better connections between IAFP and SPIA and Identify the most useful activities/support that SPIA can provide to IA researchers in the future.
  • Promote the interaction of early career researchers with SPIA and its affiliates, and to provide feedback on early-stage proposal development and/or to workshop latter-stage papers to strength success in the publication pipeline.

The three sessions will include:

Session 1 (8:00–10:00 AM): Impact Assessment Research in the CGIAR
Session 2 (10:15 AM–12:15 PM): SPIA Support to Strengthening IA Capacity in CGIAR
Session 3 (1:30–3:30 PM): Supporting the Design and Analysis of Impact Assessment Studies of Agricultural Research for Development (part of the official AAEA conference schedule)

In addition to the main sessions, SPIA is also co-organizing a series of meetings and discussions about genotyping during the AAEA conference (during Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th.

These events provide a platform for researchers, practitioners, and institutional partners to share knowledge, explore collaborative opportunities, and contribute to shaping the future of impact assessment in agricultural research.
