Under the SPIA Chair, Derek Byerlee, discussion of SPIA activities and progress since SPIA 39 and ISPC 1 meetings. Highlights include updates on the environmental impact assessment study, four ex post IAs on social impacts of CGIAR research, progress of the Diffusion and Impact of Improved Varieties in Africa (DIIVA) project, and selection of case studies to document impacts of CGIAR germplasm conservation, characterization and evaluation (GCCE), and a potential global study that updates over-arching or meta-analysis studies for the CGIAR.
