Genetic Innovation Science Group Overview

Genetic Innovation (GI) leads efforts to rapidly enhance crop varieties and manage global genetic resources. By increasing genetic gain and varietal turnover, GI aims to improve food and nutrition security globally. GI initiatives include Accelerated Breeding, Breeding Resources, Genebanks, Market Intelligence, and Seed Equal. Collaborating with National Agricultural Research and Extension Systems (NARES), it focuses on crop improvement, diversity conservation, modernizing breeding practices, and equitable seed delivery.
