Open Call for Expressions of Interest for External Experts/Professionals to join IAES Roster
CGIAR’s Independent Advisory and Evaluation Service (IAES) provides operational support as the secretariat for the Independent Science for Development Council (ISDC) and the Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA), and implements CGIAR’s multi-year, independent evaluation plan as approved by the System Council. IAES, ISDC, and SPIA are known collectively as CGIAR Advisory Bodies.
IAES is both the office arranging for independent evaluations, and the secretariat for the external bodies ISDC and SPIA. To implement its responsibilities, IAES may draw on additional external expertise when required by its mandate and annual workplan(s). To that end, IAES values having an efficiently accessible pool of candidates that supplements the expertise and skills of CGIAR Advisory Bodies for specific tasks. IAES rosters allow it to implement this operational model.
IAES maintains two distinct rosters for the two categories of experts listed below.
- External subject matter and evaluation experts, who provide specific and substantial expertise in areas of CGIAR’ s work and/or IAES mandate (SME roster);
- Analytical, coordination, communications, and technical disciplines as surge capacity during peak periods, to augment the talent base within IAES to successfully implement its workplan (PROF roster).
To ensure it has up-to-date expertise and surge capacity available to deliver on its mandate, IAES refreshes the rosters periodically with new subject matter experts, evaluators, and professionals.
Aligned with internal policies, this open call is intended to facilitate ad-hoc expressions of interest to join the IAES Roster until 31 December 2026. It may be extended, subject to operational needs. The open call does not replace any future competitive processes launched to supplement the roster with specific expertise areas. Individuals already on IAES rosters do not need to reapply.
To express interest, please send your up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV) to roster.iaes@cgiar.org with the subject line: Expression of interest to join IAES Roster and a brief statement regarding your interest in the body of an email. Candidates whose profiles match required expertise will be provisionally placed on the roster after internal screening by the IAES selection panel, and will be requested to complete a Declaration of Interest, in line with the IAES Conflict of Interest policy. In case of consideration for a specific assignment, IAES will conduct an interview prior to engagement; references and samples of past work may be sought at that time.
Inclusion on IAES roster is not a guarantee of work. It is also not designed for continuing work, or to lead to a staff position. Therefore, there should be no expectation of continued employment.
CGIAR is committed to fair, safe, and inclusive workplaces. We believe that diversity powers our innovation, contributes to our excellence, and is critical for our mission. We therefore encourage applicants from all cultures, races, ethnicities, religions, sexes, national or regional origins, ages, disability status, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
