Astewale Bimr Melaku is a Postdoctoral Fellow, Causal Impact Assessment, at SPIA. He supports the design and implementation of rigorous impact studies, and long-term follow-up for CGIAR innovations. 

Astewale's experience includes quantitative research in development and agriculture, project management, monitoring and evaluation, and strategy consulting. Before joining SPIA, he worked at the University of Goettingen, the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), and several NGOs/initiatives. 

He holds a PhD in Agricultural/Development Economics from the University of Goettingen, and an MSc in Economics from SLU.
