While ‘hunger’ continues to resonate as a cause deserving of funding support, focusing solely on staple crops is no longer appropriate in a world of rapidly changing dietary preferences. The main focus of global agricultural challenges has to move from ‘feeding the planet’ to appropriately nourishing all consumers.

In this interview, Patrick Webb, ISPC Member and Professor of Nutrition, Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, Tufts University, USA, explains how the CGIAR should respond to a world where diets are rapidly changing, particularly in developing countries.
