James Stevenson has worked with SPIA since 2010, initially in the Secretariat hosted at FAO in Rome. Since April 2019 he has been hosted by IFPRI as Senior Research Fellow and leads SPIA’s work to integrate CGIAR data needs about agricultural innovations into national data systems. In particular, he has spearheaded SPIA’s collaboration with the World Bank LSMS-ISA team and national statistical agencies in Ethiopia and Uganda. James has a range of technical and managerial experience with SPIA having played a key role in the Strengthening Impact Assessment in the CGIAR (SIAC 2013 - 2017) and Diffusion and Impact of Improved Varieties in Africa (DIIVA 2009-2012) programs. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, has co-edited two journal special issues (Agriculture Ecosystems and Environment, Food Policy) and has published in journals such as Proceeding of the National Academy of Sciences, Global Food Security, and Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy.
