Abstract

In 2017, CGIAR launched the Genebank Platform to enhance its genebanks, aligning with the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. Managed by the Global Crop Diversity Trust, the Platform aimed to ensure disease-free, viable germplasm, improve access and use, support policy development, and contribute to global crop diversity conservation.

In 2023, an external evaluation by CGIAR’s Independent Advisory and Evaluation Service assessed the Platform's design, implementation, and achievements, providing insights and recommendations.

The brief contains key findings and 11 evaluation recommendations with 23 sub-recommendations, focusing on institutional support, policy alignment, and user engagement.

For detailed findings and recommendations, read the full CGIAR Genebank Platform Evaluation Report.
